Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a great year and everything is going well! As a former bride I was always so lost at what I needed to do and what realistically everything cost! I feel like Planning a wedding is like the first day of work… that never ends. No matter how much research and training we have we still have no idea what’s going on or how its all going to work… the only thing we know is why we are there and what we are planning! This blog series is for you! I am going to walk you through planning a wedding and hopefully take some stress of your shoulders!! I am a Wedding Photographer and a former bride dedicated to taking care of my clients!

It is time to talk about ME!! Jk about your wedding photography. When choosing a wedding photographer there are a few things to consider. Your budget, style of wedding, style of photography you like, how much coverage you want (ake engagements, bridals, amount of hours on wedding day, and physical goods), and how well you connect with the photographer!

So budget, You can expect your wedding photographer cost to run you anywhere between $2,500-$10,000 depending on the experience of your photographer along with what they're including in your wedding package. Wedding photography packages will typically cover 8 hours, on average. More or less shooting time will influence your cost. Ask if Engagement sessions included or if its an extra cost. If they do cost I’ve seen engagement sessions run anywhere between $300-$1,200 depending on how many hours the shoot is.

If you are on a budget those cost may be way out of reach, however I am happy to tell you there are ways to either save or combat those prices!

First, if you fell in love with a $2500+ photographer, ask them if they do payment plans. Some do some don’t! If they do or don’t another way to get what you want is to ask your guest to instead of buying you gifts, pay for your photographer instead!

Second, research for starting out photographers, most starting out photographers don’t charge as much! (I don’t recommend this rout you get what you pay for, however sometimes this is all you can do)

Third, If you want that high end wedding photographer, you may need to go a little cheaper with other venders! Anything is possible if you do the research!

When also choosing a photographer keep in mind the style of your wedding! If your planning a very airy romantic wedding hiring a boho photographer with a darker romantic style may not be the best option! However if that’s what you want then girl go for it!!

Any time I have someone ask me what the most important thing to look for in wedding photographer, I always tell them personality! If you don’t get along with your wedding photographer then you wont be comfortable with them while your getting ready or when you’re getting your romantic portraits taken. You need someone that can makes you feel comfortable, confident, and someone that fits you and your fiancé’s personality! You’re paying a pretty penny for your photographer I hope you love them for who they are not just for their images!

Choosing a photographer should be you and your fiancés choose!! I hope this helped you in the right direction in choosing the perfect wedding photographer that fits your needs! I’d be happy to talk with you more about you, your fiancé, and your big wedding plans! I can’t wait to meet you!!

Till next time!

Cheers,

Hannah Judd
